BILOBÆ

Bilobæ is the solo project of guitarist and composer Matteo Cenerini.
At its core is a radical approach to the electric guitar: through extended techniques and physical preparations, the instrument is pushed toward timbres and textures entirely foreign to its canonical sound. This sonic exploration is defined by a deliberate refusal of electronic and digital processing. Rulers, stones, nails and magnets interact directly with the body of the instrument, producing sound through material contact rather than signal manipulation. The result is a prepared guitar practice that is as much physical act as musical performance.
Bilobæ operates within an improvisational framework, where volatile and agitated passages exist alongside moments that are slow, sustained and ethereal, moving between dense textural accumulation and open modal drones.
The performative dimension carries its own internal tension. The gestures involved are intense and muscular, yet the stage presence remains deliberately detached and impersonal, creating a productive friction between what is seen and what is heard
