This piece stems from a reflection on the growing trend of pursuing passive and automated income streams, as applied to music. Here, the performer delegates the performance of playing the guitar to a system of motorized Maneki Neko, reducing their role to one of arrangement and supervision. The celebrated Eastern lucky cat, now a mass-market commodity, becomes a metaphor for the collective aspiration of automated success, prioritizing the application of technically sophisticated strategies over the deployment of unique individual talents. This raises several questions regarding the role of personal ideas and skills within artistic production in an age dominated by algorithms and automated systems.
